Sophie Charlotte was born in Würzburg/Germany in 1996 and completed her training as a stage perfomer and dance pedagogue at Iwanson International in Munich in 2018. In addition to that, she studied theater studies and pedagogy at LMU Munich and Stockholm University. Already during her dance education Sophie Charlotte presented her own projects, which were shown in several German cities. As a freelance artist, she has collaborated with Fiete Wachholz, MA.ZE Kompanie, Kollektiv Anderer Tanz Würzburg, Jonathan Holst, Rafael Winkler and Joanne Leighton, among others.
Since 2019 Sophie Charlotte works as choreographic assistant for Nadine Gerspacher, Stella Zannou and Katja Wachter, among others. Her work as a teacher for contemporary dance brought Sophie Charlotte, for example, to the Theaterakademie August Everding and to Iwanson International in Munich. For the year 2021 she received the research scholarship from the city of Munich in the field of dance and is also part of the scholarship program „Junge Kunst und neue Wege“ from the state of Bavaria.
PERFORMER
„There is nothing that does not exist and nothing that is impossible for me in art. With my craft of movement, I approach a subject and look for interdisciplinary, team-based ways to implement it.“
TEACHER
„A positive atmosphere and working at eye level are my top priorities. A collective togetherness sharpens concentration and increases motivation. Through inspiration from various elements such as capoeira, floorwork, movement practice and improvisation, the focus in my classes is on the individuality and personal development of each participant. The dance studio initially eludes any categorization and invites as a laboratory to try out without limits.“
CREATOR
„Technology is an increasingly important factor in our modern age and has not recently found its way into the arts. Multimedia opens up unique possibilities for my choreographies: whether supporting, or as an independent element of the performance. I work with new technologies that allow dance and performance to be experienced in an immersive way, evoking an expansion of the present viewing habits of a discerning audience. In doing so, I aim to create new modes of distribution that go beyond the traditional theatrical space. My goal is to present concrete forms of performance that are not only accessible to an „art elite“,.“
